Need Help Choosing which OBi model

I'm looking for an OBi device to replace my home phone service and eventually maybe one other line that I use for my home office based business. Once I purchase the device, I plan on porting over my landline number and ditching the cable home phone service.

So, which model OBi device do I need?

I need to have my home number (which will be through GV), home office number (which may or may not be through GV, but will be VoIP). Is there anything else I need to consider? I am assuming that because I need two separate phones (one for the office and one for the home... which will not ring simultaneously) that I need the OBi202, which accepts 2 phone lines.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

OBi202 is probably the best choice; that is the only one that has 2 phone lines, tho all can handle more than one phone number on 1 phone. Two OBi100s would work too.  That would be good, for example, if you wanted to have the phone jacks in different places.

Note that both lines of OBi202 are available on the Phone 1 jack, in case you want to get a 2-line phone. That can rarely cause a problem if the device plugged in there connects to both pairs and you don't realize that.

I agree with Shale. Even if you decide to go with GoogleVoice, I suggest you investigate a VOIP provider also. They can do lots to screen out telemarketers and route calls based upon time of day or called or calling number, etc.

Although GV is free, for $12 a year (a a penny a minute or so) I get a number and all sorts of extra options. I also don't have to have all calls go to Google voicemail if I don't want to.

Wanting to add a voip to my GV.

Callcentric is free for an incoming DID?

Callcentric will give you a NYC phone number for free, but you must use it periodically or they remove the number.

Voip.ms can get you anew phone number for $1.00 or $1.50 a month. You can transfer a number to them for $10. Setup for buying a number is perhaps 50 cents!

You would pay per call with that plan or could get a flat rate per month. I'll leave it up to you to see if they are a fit for you and what your costs would be.
