Newbie, problems with router?

I've just started setting up my Obi 110, using a vtech phone, D-link router (DIR 655), via DSL connection to the Internet.  I have been unable to set up my device, or to set up GV with it.  I get an IP address for the Obi 110, and I've tried setting that address in the DMZ.  Still can't set up the device.  Nothing at the phone.  Any ideas?  Many thanks.

Do you mean that you don't even hear dial tone when you take the phone off-hook?  If yes, that is unlikely to be a router problem.

You do have the phone plugged into the PHONE port on the 110?  (It won't work in the LINE port.)
