If we use google voice, do the incoming calls that are regular land line users get charged long distance fees?
Can we receive and send faxes?
Can 911 be dialed out?

We have not purchased an Obi system yet.....

You can use an analog fax machine with an OBiHAI device to send and receive faxes whether your VoIP provider is Google Voice or someone else. A fax machine is just another type of analog phone to an ATA.

You won't be able to use Google Voice with an OBiHAI ATA after May 2014 - you'll need to use another provider such as Callcentric, etc.

911 service will not work if Google Voice is the provider you're using. Other VoIP providers offer 911 service, either included in their service or as an add-on feature.

People who call your number get charged whatever their plan says they get charged for calling that number.  So, if you have GV number in California but live in PA, and the person calling you lives 1 door down, HIS phone company thinks he's calling California and will see a long distance call.

No different than if you have a phone number for any other phone company.
