I cannot verify if my landline home phone number is eligible to port to RingTo.

All of the links to pages for verifying if my landline phone number is eligible to port to RingTo do not have any working fields to enter a phone number and check eligibility. Can someone help me out?

What is up with OBi and RingTo. Is it an approved service provider or not?

You may need to use a different web browser. Sometimes that makes the difference.

What device do you have and when was it purchased?

I've tried Firefox 29 and IE9. One of those should work, right?

One thing I know for sure from talking to the Ring.to people is that their web pages are really designed for Chrome or the latest versions of FireFox. If you have something like Adblocker, Ghostery, Do Not Track, you may try disabling them for that web page.

I do not have a device yet. I want to verify that my home phone landline is eligible to port to RingTo BEFORE I purchase a OBi device.

So where exactly are you trying to verify your number? Here?

I have very few add-ons and none that block.

If you go to this page:

https://ring.to/home/

and click on the green "Learn More" button, does anyone see any links or fields to verify if a particular phone number is eligible to port to RingTo?

Also, would someone please go to this page:

http://www.obitalk.com/info/asp/ringto

and report does if you see any links or fields to verify if a particular phone number is eligible to port to RingTo.

Can anyone please verify if FF29 or IE9 works with the Ring.to phone number verification pages?

Taoman

I suggest you try the link I provided.

Yes, when I go to the Obitalk page I can check my number. That is because I have an eligible device registered there. You don't so it won't work for you.

Both your browsers are seriously out of date.  Update to the latest versions, not only to complete the ring.to process but for the sake of your overall internet security.

I tried this direct link, and it works properly on Google Chrome, Firefox 32 and MS IE 11.

The https://ring.to/setup/ link works fine on my browser versions. No problem. But the https://ring.to/setup/ link is not for VERIFYING that your phone number is ELIGIBLE to port, it merely for TRANSFERRING your number. I have not purchased an OBi device yet because I'd like to verify that my number is eligible before I buy one.

Please, would someone that truly understands what I'm trying to do please verify the two links I posted previously to see if they work, not the https://ring.to/setup/ link, which is not the one I need.

Wow. Tough sell. I truly understand what you are trying to do. I have already given you the answer to your question (as has SteveInWA) and the link to get there in a prior post. But since you seem unable or unwilling to believe what I'm saying I will quote from Ring. To's own web site and see if that can possibly register with you:

Quote from: Ring.ToFirst - Make sure your number can be used with RingTo. Go to https://ring.to/setup/  and enter your phone number.
Select "landline" as the number type. If you get a message that says "Sorry, Your Number Can't be Transferred",
Then STOP! You cannot port your number to RingTo, even if you unlock the number.

Rick

Taoman is absolutely correct.  I just tried the link, and if you don't get the Sorry message then you're all set.

Taoman,

I finally found that quote you gave me from RingTo regarding the "Sorry, Your Number Can't be Transferred" message? I found it in the "Porting from Google Voice" topic in bandwidth's knowledge base. Could they hide it any better? My carrier was not listed in any of their porting topics, so I didn't think to read one of them.

I did not get the "Sorry" message when I entered my phone number. I created the account that I was forced to create but did not complete/submit the order to finish porting my number. I guess this means my number IS eligible to port to RingTo even though I do not yet own a device.

Would you consider this an Is this an accurate assessment?

I'd like a link to that quote. I cannot find that anywhere.

Wow, what a waste of cloud this post is.

Goose, why don't YOU go to the link.  Type in 555-555-1212 and click.  Then you too can see the message.   You could then print it out in color, frame it, and hang it on your wall.   :o
