Ring.to vs GV

Newbie to OBI. Pretty happy so far.

Here's my setup:
OBi200
SP1: Ring.to, using a number ported from Comcast. Outgoing default.
SP2: E911
SP3: GV with a new number
SP4: Not configured

As far as I can tell, everything seems to work fine, except that there is a significant delay before I hear the connecting tone when I make a call through SP1 (Ring.to). Sometimes the delay is so long that the voicemail on the receiving end picks up the phone before I hear the first connecting tone.

SP3 (GV), on the other hand, doesn't seem to have this problem.

Just wondering if this is an issue with Ring.to or if it has to do with my OBI settings (which I may be able to fix locally)?

BTW, I also noticed that GV seems to have better sound quality (louder and clearer) than Ring.to. Does this match your experience? Thanks.

I'm surprised that no one else has answered your post.... but maybe that's a good thing, because earlier today....

RingTo announced that it will transition to a paid-service in 2016, and that in the coming months, RingTo service on the Obihai boxes "will conclude"

You may want to monitor these forum posts carefully:

It looks like Anveo may have a special porting offer in partnership with RingTo to migrate customers without losing money and to minimize downtime...

I don't have either Anveo or RingTo provisioned on my Obi unit, but I wanted to at least give you some guidelines and places to start reading

I do have GoogleVoice on my Obi for primary outgoing.... very clear calls and very few problems (but there were a few here and there)

My incoming calls to GV are forwarded to a free Callcentric NY DID (which also has paid E911 on it).... very clear calls and lots of benefits with the call treatments at Callcentric

I tested RingTo through the web app using Chrome with my headset plugged into my computer, and compared it with Hangouts/GV the same way.... the Hangouts/GV connection was MUCH louder and clearer than RingTo... not sure if that mirrors your experience on the Obi...

At least you got a heads-up on the RingTo/Obi marriage being dissolved...

Hope this helps
