Use the OBi with Your Home Security System

One of the questions we often get is, “How do I make an OBi work with my alarm system?” It makes sense. Why keep an expensive landline around, if a VoIP line will do the job? With that, OBiTALK makes it easy to configure the OBi200 or OBi202 with your alarm system. Here is how to do it in three easy steps:

  1. Login to your OBiTALK account.
  2. Select the device and voice service you wish to use for the alarm system.
  3. For example: SP1 with Google Voice.
  4. Check “Use This Service for a Security Alarm Line” box and click Save.

The OBiTALK configuration will take effect when your OBi restarts. Be sure to test your alarm system after you make the configuration change. We also highly recommend you discuss with your alarm company to make sure the system works to spec before making the switch to VoIP, permanently.
