Title: Taking obi110 to Mexico...
Post by: m1tommy on September 13, 2015, 04:40:16 AM
Hi all, I need your help.

I'm traveling to Mexico in a few weeks and would like to bring my obi110 to use in a rented house, for my family to be able to make and receive back the US if needed.

I'd like to know if it's just a matter of connecting the obi to the router (barring some firewall config), or do I need to adjust settings in the obi itself?

FWIW, I did search the forum, and while finding several posts about setting up GV from OCONUS, I didn't find any post relevant to my situation (perhaps my search skills aren't the best either).

Advice?

Assuming the OBi is configured to get its IP settings by DHCP,  there are no settings on it that you need to change to make or receive GV calls.

Calling with Google Hangouts or XMPP Chat isn't officially supported from Mexico, because the Mexican government has been known to block it.

If it works for you, great, but don't be surprised if it fails.
