Title: having hard time setting up obiBT
Post by: dilmah on September 13, 2015, 03:38:21 PM
I've inserted obiBT into USB port.
But calling *28 (per instructions at http://www.obihai.com/obibt ) gives me only random beeps and noise and I'm failing to see Obi as one of available bluetooth devices on my phone.

What can I do wrong?  Any suggestions to make it work?

Have you tried power cycling the OBi while the OBiBT is plugged in?

yes, couple of times.

Some additional info: I have both ObiWiFi and ObiBT plugged in via USB hub.

For diagnostic purposes, check if *28 and pairing with cellphone work or not with the OBiBT plugged directly into the 202.

what's expected "audible" behavior after dialing *28 ?

Should there be any beeps or voice announcement?

Currently it does not sound like dialed *28 is recognized properly by my Obi.

1. Did you make the test I suggested?

2. What firmware version is your OBi? It is possible that old versions do not include the *28 set up method.

Well, so I've managed to set up bluetooth.  Paired with a smartphone (Nexus 6).

However, eventually I had to unpair them because of poor quality of voice.
If I just use obihai to place voip calls -- it works excellent.
If I just use my smartphone to place calls -- it works excellent.
But if I use obihai to place smartphone calls via bluetooth then quality is not there.  Unfortunately unacceptably low quality of voice via bluetooth.

A lot of people complain about sound quality on Amazon especially. I know it defeats the idea somewhat but have the phone within 5' of the device for testing. To me, it didn't matter that they were close together. My goal was to send it through the house via the Obi. Everyone tells me I sound better than being on handset.
