Title: odd setup issues with 1062
Post by: bukzin on November 12, 2015, 10:20:18 AM
Just got a 1062 for my home.

It connected fine (both network and wifi), calls in and out as expected.

Moved phone to other side of my house and can get echo test (**9 222222222) OK but
nothing else working.  (moved it back to first location, will not work there now either)

No changes were made to my router, switch or modem.  On Comcast cable.

Updated software (now version 5.0.0) and hardware (version 1.3) have current Google Voice account.
Rebooted the phone several times, still no luck.

What other details can I provide you?

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Do I need to have Google Chat turned on for my phone to work?

To make outbound calls using Google Voice, you need to have Google Chat added onto the Phones tab of Google Voice settings.  To receive inbound calls, you need an assigned Google Voice telephone number and the Chat destination needs to have a check mark next to it.

Judging from your post, you could benefit from reading the various FAQs and help material on Obihai's website,

and you can also read and follow my step-by-step instructions for setting up Google Voice on an OBi device, here:

Also, you can start here to learn more about Google Voice.  It is a lot more than just a simple telephone service.
