Title: Brother MFC Printer - Doesn't seem to see Obi's DialTone to FAX
Post by: lrosenman on December 30, 2015, 01:10:43 PM
I have a Brother MFC-9130CW, and it's analog Fax line is connected (on a multiplug with my office desk analog phone).

When I try to fax out using the Brother, it doesn't seem to see the dial tone.

The phone sees it just fine, and when I pick up the phone, the brother DOES see it as off hook.

Any ideas at all?

Is the multi plug you have all parallel connections or a Line1 Line 2 type?

Also on the 202 there are two phone ports. The port 1 has both line1 and line 2 on it but port 2 only has line 2.

Many fax machines use a 2 wire cable rather than all 4 wires.

As a test connect the Brother directly to the 202. If that works,  you have a prpblem with the multiplug.

It'a a parallel multiplug, I.E. all plugs have all wires.  I did try the Dial Tone test from the Brother, and I heard it.   I need to try it again the next time I have a fax to send.  I may have been "doing it wrong".

Thanks, Guys!
