Title: Obi202 and Avaya IP Phone
Post by: upfish on March 15, 2016, 05:14:05 PM
Hi. I am trying to connect Obi202 to my Avaya 9640 IP phone via Google Voice. But not sure how to do that - is it even possible? If yes, is there a detailed instruction for it? Sorry, first time user here. Thx!

Not clear what you are trying to achieve.

Google Voice uses XMPP, not SIP.

Your IP phone probably uses SIP, but not XMPP.

OBi ATAs can use XMPP and SIP.

So OBi - GV - Avaya is not going to work.

OBi - GV - DID from an ITSP - Avaya will work

or OBi - ITSP - Avaya will work

or OBi202 - Avaya will work.

There are probably others depending on what end result you desire.

Ultimately my goal just use my Avaya phone make/receive phone calls through obi, so I think all three options you provided below will work for me:

"OBi - GV - DID from an ITSP - Avaya will work

or OBi - ITSP - Avaya will work

or OBi202 - Avaya will work."

I prefer to stay with GV as it has the primary number I am using, but using GV is too much of hassle to setup - I am fine using a different ITSP as well. Is there any detailed instruction which can help me walk through the process?
