Title: Trying to setup Google Voice and get rid of Ringto
Post by: omer on March 16, 2016, 08:26:41 AM
Hi Team,

This is my only home phone and I am retired, so I need help with moving service. I am not the fastest guy on computer, but I was hoping someone can help me out with DIY steps I need to do

So I have Obihai device which is currently configured as the screen shot attached..............Ringto is going away so my options are to use Aveno ($4/month) OR someone told me to use my existing Google voice and use that on my home line to make phone calls for free. ( I  only make 4-5 phone calls a month, so I am not a heavy use)

If its true that I can use google voice to work on my home line, then please HELP ME WITH THE STEPS to make the switch to Google voice.

Thanks in advance!!!

Have you tried to google "move home number to google voice?"  or "move ring.to number to Google voice"?

I did, and here are a couple of results (out of many)

Just go into settings for SP2 (hit the little gear) and set it as your primary. This is the screen from my Obi100.

Seems you also need to setup E911.

So by SP2 where it says Google Voice he didn't get a number with that?  He also didn't specify that he wanted to port/use the Ring.to number.  May as well just get a GV # and run with it.
