Title: Call through web browser gone?
Post by: HH235 on July 16, 2016, 03:27:46 PM
Didn't there use to be a "Make a call" button on the ObiTalk Webpage using the softphone?

I can't find it.

Yes, there used to be a green "Call Obi" button on some of the pages.  Many people thought it was to make a call to Obihai.

It was there on 26 Jan 2016 but gone on 5 Feb 2016.

There are 2 alternatives you can use from a browser, FireRTC and GetOnSip.
The browser must support RTC, like Chrome.
To call the OBi with FireRTC you must enter your public IP address and port number of the OBi trunk.
You also must setup port forwarding in your router.
You can make free outbound calls with FireRTC, so you can call your inbound service provider with just a number.
You can also pass an number to the OBi and have it use a provider to complete an outbound call.

To call the OBi with GetOnSip you register an OBi trunk to your GetOnSip account then call the OBi with your account name.
You can also call like FireRTC without registering a trunk.
GetOnSip doesn't offer free outbound calls.

If you're on the same network and using a PC, you can use the Phonerlite softphone.
It's very easy to setup and to use.
You can make outbound calls by passing a number to the OBi.
If you're remote, Phonerlite will probably work, but I never tried.

There are many posts on the forum explaining how to use the above, just do a search.
