Title: use telco line for 911 calls only - How to make sure
Post by: Roger on July 25, 2011, 04:56:47 AM
All,
I have my Obi110 set up to make most calls with GV and only those calls to area code 868 with callwithus.  I have a POTS line hooked up to the obi as well, and I want to make sure only only 911 calls go through the POTS line, nothing else.  I think 911 will go through the POTS line by default, but is there anything I can do to make sure no other calls go out through the POTS line.  I don't have any plans on the POTS line so the call rates would be really high.

I am more than impressed with the Obi110.

If you haven't altered the PHONE Port DigitMap or PHONE Port OutboundCallRoute (i.e. they're both set at Default), 911 calls should be routed to the LINE Port.

If you call your local non-emergency telephone number, you can usually arrange for a test call to 911 that will not get the emergency dispatchers upset.

You could bar all other calls from the LINE Port with:

Physical Interfaces -> LINE Port -> DigitMap : (!@@.)

This is exactly what I needed to know.  Thanks RonR
