Title: my obi 200 flashed green over the 'O' symbol
Post by: passnthru2 on April 02, 2017, 01:58:00 PM
I can connect with the **9222222222 to the server.. I can call the **54713 and it connects with the server

my obi200 flashes green over the "O".. I rebooted the router, didn't do anything.. the Ethernet socket on the router is a orange led. , my computer Ethernet socket has a green led I cant get thru with the obi number on my dashboard.

what do I fix first.. I don't know why my obi200 cant get my ip address, is there another way to get that to the obi box.? I got the obi200's ip address  by dialing ***8

I haven't transferred my phone number to obi from the cable yet, I don't want to lose it if this thing wont work.. and it doesn't look like it will.

sorry about the confusion.. I have been at this for hours and hours still wont work., I'm tired
when I call the **9222222222 Verizon Wireless saying it wont connect, do I call them to connect??

Those are contradictory statements.

If you mean 'Verizon', please explain exactly what you mean by 'get Verison saying'.

Edit:  Having now looked at http://www.obitalk.com/forum/index.php?topic=12505.msg80429#msg80429 I'm totally confused about what you have managed to do!

From your post in the Google Voice help forum,

Quote
I rebooted and it still flashes there is an orange led lit over the obi Ethernet plug socket the Ethernet cable is plugged into.                   it says that the obi200 cant get my IP address, is there another way I can get the IP address.? into the obi box.?

The orange LED simply means that the Ethernet adapter inside the OBi is working.  It doesn't tell you anything else useful.

Pick up the telephone plugged into the OBi and key in ***1 and tell us what it speaks back to you.

Come on, can't you at least tell us what that IP address is?  Does it start with 192.168. or 10.0?  If so, open a web browser, type in that address, and see if the device's web page opens up.  The default username and password are both "admin".

192.168.0.14 ... sorry about being paranoid, i've been hacked before.. I had to explain to the FBI  I didn't do all that

I caught up with some of the problems.. I guess I need to contact Google voice and put in my cable phone number..    I got a print out that says 'Status' ..Connected-self

that number went nowhere..

OK, that makes no sense.

Yes, it's good to be cautious about giving out information, but your local, private LAN IP addresses are not accessible from outside your house.

No, you don't "contact Google Voice...".

You should have a Google account, for example, yourname@gmail.com, to which you have added the Google Voice service by signing up.  You should have obtained a Google Voice inbound telephone number.

You then go to the Google Voice settings page, to add a check mark to the left of Google Chat, and then add any other forwarding phone numbers you may want to use.

Here are my complete setup instructions:  http://www.obitalk.com/forum/index.php?topic=8560.msg56460#msg56460 (http://www.obitalk.com/forum/index.php?topic=8560.msg56460#msg56460)

The instructions assume you are using the old, "Legacy" version of the Google Voice settings page.  To get there go to this page:  https://www.google.com/voice/b/0#inbox (https://www.google.com/voice/b/0#inbox)

If it opens up in the new Google Voice interface instead, then click the three-horizontal "hamburger" icon in the upper left corner of the page, then scroll down the left side and click on "Legacy Google Voice."  Then, click the gear icon in the upper right corner of the page to get to the settings page.

Steve, if you use the "redirection" path it will always go to the Legacy version:

I don't quote that URL because I don't know how long Google will keep it in place during the transition (it is not URL that Google publicly states in their documentation).  Nonetheless, yes, you're correct (for now).

Google recently made a change (in response to user complaints):  as long as you don't block or delete the relevant Google cookies, GV will remember your choice to use the legacy website, and not redirect you to the new one.
