Title: Vonage home on OBi202?
Post by: SoftwareSamurai on October 08, 2017, 01:16:27 PM
I saw a post back in January saying the OBi can't be configured for a Vonage home account (due to not being able to get the SIP username/password from Vonage.)

Is this still true?

Vonage doesn't give out the SIP credentials; you need to use their ATA.  This is their way of preventing abuse of their unlimited calling feature, so that customers won't share their credentials with others who aren't paying for the service.

Yeah, that's what I thought. Looks like I'll be switching to Anveo instead. I like the looks of the "Just Right" plan.

Thanks!

Why do you care about whether or not Vonage releases its SIP credentials?  They give you a perfectly good ATA to use with their service.

The real question to evaluate is:  which service offers the combination of price and features to suit your particular calling patterns.  If you can find another service that better fits, then great; switch.
