I am using vg3, vg4, vg6 and vg7 with 4 whistlephone accounts using **3, **4, **6 and **7 + number. I uderstand **5 is used internally and can't be used to dial a number.
There are 8 Voice Gateways and would like to use some more in addition to the ones I am presently using. How would I do this? What would I have to enter before the phone number? What would I have to add to the DigitMaps?
My setup:
SP1 > Google Voice (Primary)
SP2 > Localphone
Line > PAP2T
How 'bout going to a two-digit trunk specifier? Instead of (or in addition to) **7, for example, use **71, **72, **73. etc. That's where I put a couple of my seldom used providers.
Just have matching rules in the PHONE Port DigitMap and OutboundCallRoute.

Instead of using **xx as a trunk specifier, could I use something else such as a 2 or 3 digit number without the ** such as 00 or 123?. I may setup one VG for iNum. BTW, can you call an iNum for free from the US? Would the rules in the DigitMaps be the same, but subsitute the 2 or 3 digit number in place of **xx? Such as:
**2(Mvg2)| and {(<**2:>(Mvg2)):vg2}, ? Can I change them to something like:
123(Mvg2)| and {(<123:>(Mvg2)):vg2}, 0r 00(Mvg2)| and {(<00:>(Mvg2)):vg2},
You can use most anything that doesn't get tangled up with an existing dialing sequence. For example, 123 is probably a bad choice because it would probably interfere with dialing numbers in area code 234 (12345551212).
The matching of PHONE Port DigitMap/OutboundCallRoute rules would take on the same form as the **3/**4/**6/**7 additions.

How about calling iNum numbers? Would I get nicked $ if I call them?
There's no charge for iNum calling unless your VoIP provider charges you for the call. You can always use sip.inum.net and there's no provider invovled.

Getting back to the trunk specifier, what would be your choice for some simple 2 or 3 digit numbers that shouldn't mess with other stuff?
Would 00 be ok to use for the iNum gateway?
...or could I use a single * and a single number such as *1, *2, ...*9 or even *00 ?
Personally, I don't like the idea of using simple digits as it's likely to get messy with normal dialing.
You could use # as a lead-in, such as #1, #2, etc. I was using #1 for Skype for a while, but I have an extension phone tied to the OBi using a PAP2 and the leading # was a little messy with it, so I went to the **71/**72 approach to free up **6 for Skype.
*xx is potentially problematic as these are Star Code Features. It might be OK to use ones don't conflict with ones already in use. *x might not be problem. You'd have to experiment to see.
I used #2 for the iNum on vg2 and it works. I called my iNum number. I got the call waiting tone, but of course, I had a hard time talking to myself with the same phone. I ususlly don't need a phone to talk to myself.
I actually had to change it to *2 as #2 was conflicting with my PAP2T. (the # brought up the line port) Also, using #2 somehow sent the call out as speed dial 2 on SP2. I was wondering why my localphone (SP2) call history showed that number which is also an inbound number (GV number forwarded) on the PAP2T through an IPComms DID. And they nicked me 1/2 cent to find out.
