Title: Ring Pattern "Sampling" via the attached phone
Post by: QBZappy on September 15, 2011, 11:07:45 AM
Could we have an easy way to sample the "Ring Pattern" directly from the OBi unit. It would be neat to have a button to press next to the setting to test the ring patterns. It seems unnecessary to have to manually test it, when a simple press of the button would suffice.

Ring Settings->Ring Profile A/B->Ring Pattern 1-10

If we could force the OBi to ring the phone this way, we might even be able to use a similar technique as infin8loop used to reboot the OBi using a vbs script ( http://www.obitalk.com/forum/index.php?topic=1152.msg8334#msg8334 ) to make notification/wakeup calls using the task scheduler. Since the OBi has an internal clock it would be simpler if the OBi could handle this task (that's another feature request).

This feature could satisfy three needs
1) Sample ring patterns
2) Possibility of giving the OBi notification/wakeup call feature
3) Cool Factor. I find that it's always cool to remotely control something.

I'll add my voice to this feature request.

Some of my analog 'handsets' don't do play well with short off breaks in the ring cadence, there's some inertia during the off part of the ring-off-ring cycle. An off of .1 or .2 second is sometimes not even noticeable on one of my phones. 0.2 off between two rinng seems to be the lower limit for one handset.

See this thread for why I'm interested in this feature as a way to test and experiment with ring cadences: http://www.obitalk.com/forum/index.php?topic=3701.msg24658
