Title: Using Obi200 with apartment buzzer
Post by: inssein on January 02, 2019, 10:19:22 PM
I live in an apartment with an outdated buzzer system that rings a phone, and you have to dial 9 to open the door. I have always wanted to be able to forward this to my cell phone.

I was inspired by http://www.obitalk.com/forum/index.php?topic=12411.0 to try and connect the phone line to the Obi 200, but I haven't been able to get very far. I have connected it to google voice, but the web admin isn't showing any incoming calls.

From reading these forums so far, it seems like the Obi200 was only meant to be used with a phone, and not have a phone line connect to it. If that is the case, how are others able to ring another line?

If it helps, I used to have a landline a while back and the ring tone of the buzzer is actually different from a regular call.

Furthermore there is no guarantee that the buzzer/phone system in your apartment sufficiently well emulates a real phone line for an OBi110/212/LINE to work with it.
