I have a obi1032 and I was wondering if you can buy a longer power cable for the phone?
thanks,
No, at least not from Polycom.
Two alternate solutions:
- Get some similar wire, perhaps salvaged from an old power adapter. Cut the wire on the OBi's power adapter and splice in the extension wire. You risk damaging your equipment if you don't get the polarity right.
- Use Power over Ethernet (PoE). All OBi IP phones support the industry-standard PoE specification. You can either use an Ethernet switch with built-in PoE (Amazon item B076PRM2C5), or buy a PoE injector (Amazon item B001PS9E5I). When using PoE, the electric power for the phone is connected to a spare pair of wires in the Ethernet cable, so there is no need for a power adapter (wall wart) at the phone itself.
Use an extension cord or am I missing something?
As azrobert suggested...an extension cord seems to be the most practical and economic solution. Maybe splurge and get one with a surge protector?
Why not let the original poster describe his installation, and why this question was being asked in the first place?
Many power adapters have extension cables. For example, this one would work with my Obi1062

Your length might need to be shorter. I got this for a security camera but the size fits for my phone also.
