Title: Remote Extensions
Post by: xPOTS on April 08, 2019, 03:09:19 PM
Hello, I have a small business with 4 POTS lines.  Simple 4-line phones now handle all our needs.  However, we now need to add a 4-line extension in a physically remote location.  The remote location is not connected to our LAN, and will be serviced by a different Internet provider.  Is it feasible to use two OBi504vs (or some other) units, one at each location, to add the remote 4-line phone?  If so, does OBiTalk provide intercom  or remote paging functions for the remote set?

Our current Telco/Internet provider offers SIP VoIP services.  They provide a suitable turn-key setup, but the required phones are available only on a monthly rental plan, which is cost prohibitive due to the number of extensions we have.  Is it likely that their VoIP service is compatible with the OBi?

Any information will be sincerely appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

Anyone that is interested:  After purchasing a single Obi504 ATA and a Obi1022 phone, and after some trial & error, I can say that we can use this for what we need.  There is no remote intercom but that seems to be a minor issue with the available Callcentric features.  We can use a single Callcentric inbound account with one extra channel (and one outbound account), giving us the 4 inbound lines to both ends.  Our other existing phone #s can be parked, disconnected, or used for other purposes.  This seems to work well so far.
