Title: Self-Troubleshooting Guide broken links, dead Obi200?
Post by: markz on May 22, 2019, 12:07:07 PM
I have an Obi200 that seems to have died after several years of fairly reliable service.  Sometimes the power light will come on green, and sometimes it alternates red/green.  It won't connect to the Internet or a phone, but the middle light looks like it is showing regular pulses of network traffic.

I tried to follow the Self-Troubleshooting Guide and
https://www.obitalk.com/info/faq/Troubleshooting-sec/power-light-meanings, but most of the links take me to a 404 not found error.
All the links that say "Click here for further recovery instructions" point to https://www.obitalk.com/support/troubleshooting/alt
which is a broken link 404 not found.

Also, my symptoms, two solid green lights, and no phone light doesn't seem to be on the menu.
I don't see the device when I scan my network either.  I tried a factory reset (which seems to require three hands as the button inside is too small) and that failed with all the lights just going off instead of blinking.

Any ideas?

When it comes up in recovery mode, I was able to attempt a firmware update manually with the instructions at
https://www.obitalk.com/info/support/troubleshooting
Alternating Red/Green
but after uploading the latest firmware from https://www.obitalk.com/forum/index.php?topic=9.0
, it just came up in recovery mode again.

It'd be nice if the troubleshooting directions had a link to the firmware!

Those symptoms indicate that your device has failed, probably due to bad flash memory.  "No user serviceable parts inside", so it's time for a replacement.

Thanks!  I'm glad Newegg is having a sale this week!
