Title: Calling Obi requires a PIN?
Post by: RHW413 on June 10, 2019, 02:10:46 PM
New user.  When I call my GV number using my cell, a voice prompts me to enter a PIN, tells me no messages, and then allows dialing after entering a '2'.  My wife's cell works as expected, and calls the GV number.  Why is my cell 'Special'?

This is not being caused by the OBiTALK device.  It's a basic feature of Google Voice.  Google Voice is not a bare-bones free telephone company.  It is a full-function service, combining phone calling, voicemail, text messaging and call forwarding.

When you call your Google Voice phone number from your linked mobile phone number, it recognizes that number's caller ID, and it assumes you want to listen to your new voicemail messages.  So, it plays that message to you.  The voicemail PIN needs to be set here:  https://www.google.com/voice#voicemailsettings (https://www.google.com/voice#voicemailsettings)

Since your wife's phone number is not one of your Google Voice linked/forwarding numbers, her call is treated as a regular inbound call.
