I'm just starting with this, so please bear with a newbie.With answering system on, all I get are number of missed calls, but no messages. I'm using Google Voice. Am I doing something wrong?

GV voicemail kicks in on all calls not answered within about 25 seconds. It cannot be disabled nor can the time be changed. If your answering machine is set to longer than that, GV VM will win the race.

Google Voice service have 4 max rings (within about 25 seconds) before sending the caller to your Google Voice account (Gmail) Voicemail. If you preferred your answering machine then you will have to make adjustments at your answering machine to just 3 rings or below that 25 seconds threshold.
