Title: Power LED is Off
Post by: Shane_AZ on August 20, 2019, 02:27:02 PM
I have a OBI202 and have been using it for few years.  Today when I turned it on, the power LED first is RED for one second then blinking Green for maybe two seconds and then goes off and stays that way.   So after a minute or so the LEDs are "Off-ON-Off-Off-Off".   I have tried resetting, changing the network cable and using another power supply with no success.   The OBITalk portal shows the device as 'Offline'.    Anything else that I can try ?     Thanks

Time for a new one.  "No user serviceable parts inside."

One thing you can try is to connect your browser to the OBi's local web page (get the IP address from your router's local DHCP connection table). Then download the latest OBi firmware for your model and use the web page that comes up to browse to the firmware file and then update the OBi device (similar to a manual upgrade).

This may bring your device back to life.

If you do not understand what the first paragraph means, then go here: https://www.amazon.com/OBi202-2-Port-Adapter-Support-Service/dp/B007D930YO

The power LED being out can mean that there will be no access via ethernet.

Right.  I can't access it to try that.

@IHEARTVOIP
You omitted to advise the OP of the following.  The OBi202 has router functionality which by default is active between its ethernet port labelled INTERNET and its ethernet port labelled LAN.  As such, to operate the INTERNET port needs to be wired to the user's main router.  Most people will also have their computer(s) connected by ethernet cable or Wi-Fi to that main router.  Also an OBi202's default configuration disables access to the local web page from the INTERNET port.  Thus the typical unsuspecting or uninformed user would be unable to do as you suggest even if the OBi202 were 100% functional.

With an OBi202 any one of three things needs to be done to use the local web management interface:

1.  Change its mode of operation from router mode to bridge mode.

or

2.  EXplicitly enable access from the INTERNET port.

or

3.  Connect the PC to the LAN port of the OBi202, ensure it has or will be given an IP address in the 192.168.10 subnet (but not 192.168.10.1) and put that 192.168.10.1 address (not the one the router shows for the OBi202's INTERNET port) in the browser.

For the benefit of others who may come across this post at a future time, the above also applies to the OBi212.

I tried that both with cross-over cable and straight through cable and could not connect.  My PCs IP was 192.168.10.20 and tried to http to 192.168.10.1.   I think the issue is my box.  I have already bought one and will receive it in few days and will do this same test with the new OBI202 to confirm this is the proper way of accessing the web admin page.   Thanks everyone for your input.
