Hi everyone:
I'm relatively new to OBihai. I have an Obi202, and I'm wondering...is there a way to pickup the phone attached to it, and dial a code to switch which ITSP it uses to make/receive calls?
If so, is that just for that call? Permament until otherwise?
Thanks
Assume you have four different ITSPs configured on the device; SP1, SP2, SP3 and SP4. Using the OBiTALK dashboard, you can click on the SPx that you want to use as the default, and check the box to use it as the default for outbound calls. This setting "sticks" until you change it.
Now, if you want to use one of the other ITSPs, on a per-call basis, simply prefix the dial string with **2, for example to use SP2, or **4 to use SP4, and so on. This only applies for the current call.
None of this has any effect on inbound calls.
Excellent. I'll try it over the next day or two. Thanks!
If you use Speed Dials, you can also configure the **2 or whatever into the speed dial. This allows you to always use a specific provider for that number. This might be useful if certain locations are cheaper with one provider than another.
I run a business and use Voip.Ms. With them I have the capability of multiple outbound routes and I configured the second one with my business toll-free number for Caller-ID. Making calls using what has been described as a different provider in a previous answer, is the same provider for me but with my business number in the ID.
So, both SP1 and SP2 are with the same provider but different outbound
SP1 is my home number
SP2 is my Toll-Free number
I just noticed I never said thank you for this, so a big "THANKS" for that info.
