Title: Obi508
Post by: RiseBaking on December 07, 2020, 02:23:29 PM
Hello,
We are using an ObiHi 508 device, and we moved a generic analog phone from an old Cisco ATA to the ObiHi 508 and there is no dial tone. What would we need to do to configure this?
We are also using phone service though 8x8, which does not seem to have great support, so I am trying to reach out here to see what the community can do to help us out.
Thanks!

A powered OBi should always give dial to an off hook phone.  No configuration needed. No working network connection needed.  Even nothing plugged in to the ethernet socket should give dial tone.  Dial tone is generated inside the OBi. It does not come in over the network.  No instruction to generate it comes in over the network.

Suspects are:

1.  Faulty phone cord.

2.  Incorrectly wired phone cord.

3.  Faulty phone.

4.  Faulty OBi.
