Title: DTMF tones during call
Post by: DaveDavid on April 19, 2021, 01:50:31 PM
I use two Obi200 devices with two phone lines with voip.ms. Both phone lines experience occasional DTMF tones during calls. I've tried changing the DTMF method on the Obi and voip.ms config to match, but all options do this. I'm running 3.2.2 (Build: 5921EX) on hardware version 1.4. Is there a better firmware to be running?

Dave.

Are these tones that the OBi user hears, the remote party hears, or both?
If the remote party hears the tones, do they occur when it is you speaking, or another family member?
I'm asking because DTMF talk-off is far more common with female voices, especially if the woman is pregnant.

Setting DTMFMethod to Inband on the OBi and at VoIP.ms should avoid the issue.  If it's still happening, syslog may give a clue as to where and why.  If the tones are heard by the OBi user, see whether greatly reducing DTMF Playback Level, e.g. from -5 to -25, makes them much quieter.
