Title: Can you call GV from registered cell phone
Post by: dsm140323 on November 16, 2011, 05:51:03 PM
I am sure everybody is using obi100 for home with GV#.  Can I call from my cell phone which is registered to GV account to call the phone attached to OBI?  I can call the GV# but it goes in VM and I am wondering if it possible to make it work since in GV setting we are using chat.

Also, I have not installed google voice plugin but everything is working fine with in/out calls.  Do I need the plugin?

Thanks,

In advanced settings for your cell phone number in your Google Voice account, change:

Direct access to voicemail when calling your Google number from this phone?

Yes (default for mobile phones)

to

No (requires pressing star during greetings -- default for non-mobile phones)

The caller is using a phone that was used to authenticate this OBi device's Google Voice account. The symptom is the caller will always go to Google Voice voicemail and never ring the OBi's phone. The solution is:
1. Go to Google Voice voice settings. The Voice settings selection is available from the top-right corner "gear" icon.
2. From the "Phones" tab, select "Edit" on the phone from which you are calling.
3. Select "Show advanced settings."
4. Select "No" for "Voicemail Access."
5. Select "Save" at the bottom of the page.
