Title: Use OBI110 with regular phone service setup.
Post by: dudley810 on December 07, 2011, 05:21:30 PM
I would like to use a obi110 to do the following: (I don't want to remove my landline just want to make it cheaper for long distance)

All phones in the house

1. Configure all outbound calls except 911 to use the google voice line for default.
2. Configure inbound calls from google voice number to ring all phones.
3. Keep landline phone number ringing all phones

Do I need to hook the obi110 phone line port to the main line coming into the house in order for the google voice to work on all phones?

You need to have the OBi110 line port connected to the telco line coming to the house. You need to have the OBi phone port connected to all of your phones.

When you configure Google Voice, check the box that says make this your primary line.

You need to disconnect your landline from your house phones and connect it to the LINE Port of the OBi.

You need to connect your house phones to the PHONE Port of the OBi.  Make sure your landline is not still connected to your house phones before making this connection.

Configure Google Voice on the SP1 Service.

Set:

Physical Interfaces -> PHONE Port -> PrimaryLine : SP1 Service

All incoming calls will ring the OBi PHONE Port (your house phones).

911 will automatically go out the LINE Port to your landline.

All other outbound calls will go out SP1 to Google Voice by default.

To place calls using the landline instead of Google Voice, dial **8 + number.
