Title: controlling/fixing the out going caller ID through google voice.
Post by: gooniya on December 10, 2011, 07:28:01 AM
Hi,

I am a Obitalk newbie, we have had the device for a bit over a week and really like it. One problem we have is the when we call out the outgoing caller ID does not contain the country prefix (so it goes out as 212-xxx-xxxx rather than +1-212-xxx-xxxx). Not sure if there is a OBI setting or a google voice setting that will fix this.

Thanks in advance for any pointers.

Unfortunately, that's set in Google's servers and you have no control over it, whether calling with an OBi or by other means.

Two providers that (as far as I've tested) consistently send the correct caller ID are Anveo and Voxbeam.  The latter is less expensive but harder to use.  Callcentric does it right in most cases, but to some countries, fail to send caller ID at all.  What country are you calling?  Landline or cellular?
