Title: Line Out - POTS only operates with pulse dial
Post by: jetty on January 05, 2012, 10:23:02 AM
Just wondering if there is a way that when a bridge is made to the line out if the number can be dialed using pulse rather than DTMF tones since my POTS is pulse dial only.

I know years ago you could do this with dial-up modems by prefixing the dialing commands with a 'p'.

Any insight,
Thanks - Jetty

I don't believe the OBi supports pulse dialing.

I believe there may be adapters out there that can convert the DTMF tones to pulse but afraid I can't give any specifics. The cost may make it not worth it if you can get Touch Tone service from your POTS provider.

Yea I kind of figured that OBi didn't support pulse dialing.  Too bad really since it would be easy to implement since pulse dial is really just a matter of pulsing the "off-hook" relay.

I have looked and found plenty of adapters that convert pulse to DTMF but not the other way around.

If I get a chance I will have to break out my Pic microchip development system and hack together some sort of adapter.

Thanks to all who responded.

Have anybody found a good adapter for pulse PSTN?
