Title: Dropped calls then "there is no service"
Post by: Clemz on January 24, 2012, 10:31:23 PM
For over 6 months my Obi100 worked great with Google Voice but for the past few months I often have calls that get dropped.  In the middle of a call a busy signal comes on disconnecting the call.  When I try to call the person back right away I get a message that says "There is no service".  After about 2 minutes I will be able to place a call.  During this short outage my Internet connection (at least on my PC) is fine.

Anybody know what could cause this problem?  Is the Obi100 losing Internet connectivity somehow?

First, try rebooting modem, router and OBi.

If that doesn't help, you might troubleshoot:

Run a continuous ping to the device from your PC and see whether packets get lost when you have trouble.

Set up syslog and check for errors at the time of disconnect.

See whether GV calls made or answered with Gmail get dropped.

See whether calls made from the OBi, using a SIP provider get dropped.

I'll give those steps a try.  Thank you for the suggestions.
