Title: Allow PC to ring while OBI is powered on
Post by: Mique on February 15, 2012, 04:12:02 PM
I understand that when you use the OBI your PC will not ring as it did prior to using the OBI. I would like to know how this feature can be reactivated so my PC will ring at the same time as the OBI rings the assigned phone. Any idea how we can get this to work? Thanks.

You can use OBiAPP for PC plus a SIP client like X-Lite 4 on your PC.  You can then make and receive calls from your PC in addition to the OBi PHONE Port.

For more information, see : OBiAPP for PC (http://www.obitalk.com/forum/index.php?board=9.0)

If using the OBiAPP and a SIP client will the same phone number assigned to the OBi ring my PC? I want the number that everyone uses to call me to be able to ring my PC as well as the OBi phone!. Will this work as you are suggesting?

Yes.  Incoming calls to the OBi that ring the PHONE Port can also ring the SIP client on the PC.

OK, Thanks. I have the APP running and X-Lite but have not managed to get the PC to ring when the number is dialed, the home phone rings, attached to OBi. I will dig deeper.

I have it all set up but no ringing when the phone number is called. I do not see where to enter the phone number so it know to answer it. I have loaded the OBi # in as per the instructions. Any help is appreciated.

I didn't realize you already had OBiAPP and X-Lite up and running.

See this post for how to get incoming calls to ring your PC:

Well, I have tried to amend the settings but they do not save. Also, am I supposed to change each setting:-

Voice Services -> SP1 Service -> InboundCallRoute
Voice Services -> SP2 Service -> InboundCallRoute
Voice Services -> OBiTALK Service -> InboundCallRoute
Physical Interfaces -> LINE Port -> InboundCallRoute

change ph or {ph} to {ph,PP(ob290123456)}

I cold not find "Physical Interfaces -> LINE Port -> InboundCallRoute"
Any additional help is again appreciated.

If you're making changes directly to the OBi, you must also set:

System Management -> Auto Provisioning -> ITSP Provisioning -> Method : Disabled
System Management -> Auto Provisioning -> OBiTALK Provisioning -> Method : Disabled

or the OBiTALK Web Portal will overwrite your changes with its settings.

Each of the four InboundCallRoute's controls where that particaular trunk rings.  If you don't want a particular trunk to also ring the PC, don't change its InboundCallRoute.

Trust me, there is a:

Physical Interfaces -> LINE Port -> InboundCallRoute

OK, thanks for this information. I will give it another try. I am accessing the OBi by the ip address. Still can not see the Physical Interfaces -> LINE Port -> InboundCallRoute,
I will keep looking. May be tomorrow as it is getting late. Thanks for your help. I will post again

Do you have an OBi100?  They don't have a LINE Port.  Only the OBi110 has a LINE Port.

OBi100, that explains that.  I have modified SP1 and OBiTalk services, all saved now, thanks. Can I now assume that when my Google voice phone number is dialed both my Phone connected to the OBi and my PC will ring?  Also, is there an easy way to dissable and enable this feature?
Thanks.

It should.  Call your Google Voice number and test it.

I don't believe so.

I need access to a different phone which I do not have at the moment.
Can you simply explain what each 'trunk' is? My primary line is SP1 so I assume I need to change this one so my X-lite soft phone will ring as should my OBi attached phone?
The OBiTALK Service, I am not sure about, can you help?

Voice Services -> SP1 Service -> InboundCallRoute

Voice Services -> OBiTALK Service -> InboundCallRoute

I guess turning off the softphone X-Lite would stop the PC from ringing!

The OBi100 has three trunks, each of which supports a service provider for incoming and outgoing calls:

SP1 Service
SP2 Service
OBiTALK Service

The SP1 Service and SP2 Service can be configured with Google Voice and/or SIP providers for calls to/from PSTN numbers.

The OBiTALK Service uses a proprietary server provided by Obihai to facilitate communications between OBi's and OBiON Apps using OBiTALK numbers.

Any or all of the InboundCallRoute's associated with each of these trunks can be modified to simultaneously ring the OBiAPP/X-Lite phone in addition to the OBi PHONE Port, as desired.

That'll do it!

I guess all I need to do is change SP1 as my primary number and both my X-Lite/PC and the phone attached to the OBi100 will ring?  I will test tomorrow when I have access to an additional phone. Thanks.

Yes, the following should make incoming Google Voice calls ring the OBi telephone and your PC:

Voice Services -> SP1 Service -> X_InboundCallRoute : {ph,pp(ob290123456)}

where 290123456 is you OBiAPP for PC OBiTALK number.

Done and dusted!  Works like a charm, thanks for all your help. One note though, the sound quality for the other person on the line listening to me was not very clear although I could hear them just fine.
Again thanks.
