Title: Vonage number ported to Ooma
Post by: makitso on March 15, 2012, 06:54:41 AM
Hi,

I had an original Vonage number ported to Ooma two years ago.  Is it possible to port that Vonage number to Google Voice?

In any case, you'll need to port it to a mobile first.  Look up your area code and exchange at http://www.telcodata.us/search-area-code-exchange-detail
On the result page, click a link under Rate Center.
On the new page, look for bandwidth.com -- if it's not there. you may be out of luck.

On the page that shows Broadwings, click the Rate Center link -- The rate center name should look like the name of your city or one nearby, possibly abbreviated.

On the page for your Rate Center, there will be several (or perhaps many) exchanges shown.  If at least one entry (for an exchange or a thousands block) shows bandwidth.com, you should be ok.
