Title: setting up new 202 unit
Post by: bukzin on April 17, 2012, 05:48:15 PM
Noob 202 questions here...

The printed installation guide says I may need "an internet phone service subscription"

Is this my Google Voice account?

Secondly, I see new mention of using the USB port.  Is this for future useage?

Thanks

Yes it can be Google Voice or a SIP provider. e.g. Voip.ms. Currently the USB port can be used as a storage device. In the future one may be able to use a wireless dongle.

Thanks

Could you give examples of how a USB storage device
might enhance a 202?

In the real world, how would extra storage help me?

The USB storage capability of the OBi202 has nothing to do with VoIP telephony.   It's more a part of the built-in router and simply makes a USB storage device (i.e. external hard drive or flash drive) accessible on your network.  You might use it as a place to share photos, music, or other files.
