Title: Trouble switching phone services
Post by: AlbertHVC on September 10, 2012, 04:08:44 PM
I just switched phone companies.

I now have phone and DSL on the same line.

If I plug my phone in I can make calls.
If I plug the modem in I can get the internet.
If I plug the modem in the OBI the machine lights up like it is working.

If I plug the modem into the OBI and then into the wall I cannot get service. I "believe" this should work.

My question is: Do I "need" two lines? Or should I be able to split it somehow on the same line?

Obtain a splitter that is available at the dollar store, e-Bay, or wherever. You would connect the "single"
side directly to your wall jack and the "double" side as follows:

Connect the Obi line port to one via a DSL filter and your modem directly to the other. This will connect you to the internet simultaneously with voice service over the PSTN.

Very simple - Good Luck!
