Title: OBi110 rebooting itself too often
Post by: JohnLennon on March 24, 2011, 12:39:32 AM
I've been working next to OBi110 most of the evening and night and I noticed that it rebooted itself about every hour.

Once I was dialing and it rebooted, I had to wait a few seconds before I could dial for my call.

At least once I missed a call because it just restarted (GV directed the call to another device).

I have auto provisioning on to use the Expert portal for setup and I'm on the 1.2.0 firmware. I noticed that it has provisioning set to be periodically with an interval of 3600. I tried to change that (via the build in http server) but it reboots again twice, I guess to restore the settings from the Expert Portal.

Is this by design? If so, why so often, as it could miss calls...

Update: it seem it actually reboots about every 45 minutes or so.

Mine never reboots itself.

I was on a call and it rebooted itself. Then again at 1:30 minutes later I happened to be next to it and it did it again...

I guess I'll disable provisioning for now, until OBi provides a fix.

I just saw a reboot within the last hour with reason 91 as well; first time I've seen mine spontaneously reboot.

It seems it's rebooting every 40-45 minutes:

<3> SYSTEM REBOOTED (Reason: 91, lifecycle: 2507)
   192.168.1.108   24/03 14:29:02.162

<3> SYSTEM REBOOTED (Reason: 91, lifecycle: 2508)
   192.168.1.108   24/03 15:10:54.722

<3> SYSTEM REBOOTED (Reason: 91, lifecycle: 2508)
   192.168.1.108   24/03 15:52:47.296

I suspect 'lifecycle' is uptime since last reboot (in seconds).

2508 / 60 = 41.8 minutes

What is  your DHCP lease time?  Try extending time...

JohnLennon,

Our support staff has emailed you regarding a resolution of the reboot problem.
Please check if your unit is now running properly.

------
The periodic reboot is caused by MWI (SIP) subscription with your ITSP server, which happens periodically (default is 1 hr). This ITSP server sends MWI Notification to the OBi with a non-standard Call-ID header w.r.t. the subscription, which triggers the OBi reboot on renewal of the subscription. We will include the fix to this condition in the next maintenance release.

Note that:
- Most ITSP service does not require/want MWI subscription, to provide MWI notification to the device. The option to subscribe for MWI (per SP service) is disabled by default.
- Reboot will not happen if the MWI Notification is formatted properly by the server w.r.t. the subscription.

This issue came back after I upgraded to the 04/07/2011 firmware version 1.2.1.
