Title: Voice unstable, no rings
Post by: danieljai on December 26, 2012, 06:22:01 PM
Hello, I have been using voip.ms with obitalk for awhile but failed everything to work properly. I've tried using the search feature for my symptoms but I'm still not sure if i'm applying the right medicine.

1) When someone calls in, caller hears us but we don't hear them (50% chance)
2) Despite setting QoS or no one using any upstream traffic, voice randomly lagg-g-g-g-gs... (happens very often)

I have a 512 Kbps up, with no one using any traffic the phone line will still experience voice lags. I use a TL-WDR4300 router, and only have given it a static local ip and I've set port to something other than 5060.

I have ran out of ideas, hopefully someone can give me a hint :(

If your router has a sip ALG setting, you should disable it. It is a frequent cause of voip related problems.

The router has the following... They are all currently enabled since none resembles SIP.
SPI Firewall
VPN
PPTP Passthrough
L2TP Passthrough
IPSec Passthrough
ALG
FTP ALG
TFTP ALG
H323 ALG
RTSP ALG

ALG
FTP ALG
TFTP ALG
H323 ALG
RTSP ALG

Disable at least the H323 (video) & RTSP (audio) settings.
