So it doesn't exactly say that Google *Voice* will be free for 2013.  It says you can continue to make calls via Gmail, and the announcement was on the official Gmail blog with nothing on the official Google Voice blog.  I'm wondering if an announcement regarding Google Voice specifically is yet to come.

But how else can you make calls with Google? Isn't google voice the tool to make calls with gmail?

You could use google voice to call from any designated phone number thru call back.

Right.  I have it call my cellphone back when I want to make long calls, totally free.

The OBi uses Gmail to make the call anyway so it's free for Obi.  If you happen to have a Google Voice account the caller ID uses that.
