Title: after I port MJ number (via cell carrier) will it work on both devices?
Post by: mgh24 on March 16, 2013, 11:45:57 AM
I think I have a pretty clear idea of how to port my number to a cell carrier, and then port to google voice.  I want to port my magicjack number.  What I am not clear about, is after the number has been ported the 2 times, will it ring through to both GV and magicjack until I get rid of the magicjack device?

So by porting the number, I am not actually losing the majicjack number?

I just want to make sure everything is working properly before I ditch magicjack.

Thanks for any help.

It will no longer ring the magic jack.  Do not "Ditch" the Magic jack at least until the first port goes through.

Also the first port must be done before your Magic Jack subscription expires or you risk losing the number.

It will no longer ring the magic jack.

That was what I was afraid of.

Thanks for the response, much appreciated.

Afraid of?  Porting removes a number from a service.  What did you think it did?
