Title: Obi works for about 5 seconds, then cuts out
Post by: daisi on June 05, 2013, 09:46:05 AM
When I try to call someone, we can hear each other for about 5 seconds, and then its cuts out and neither of us can hear the other. I tried resetting the router, unplugging and resetting Obi, etc.  Still the same problem.

I also tried to update Obi, but it won't let me do the automatic update OR the by-phone update. I downloaded the firmware, but when I try to go to the IP address it gives me, it says it's not available. I wonder if these are related issues.

Help...?

Try giving the OBi a static IP on the router using the MAC address of the OBi.

Hi - Thank you. Can you put that into layman's terms? What exactly do I do?

It depends on your router.

the MAC address is listed on a sticker on your OBI.  Your router will have some option such as "LAN Setup".  You will enter the MAC address and an IP address.  Your options may be totally different depending on your router.
