Title: Trunk & extension on the same Obi110 ?
Post by: Gavo on June 06, 2013, 07:14:44 AM
Hello,

Where retrofitting Asterisk pbxs to replace "traditional" phone systems we redirect the customers pstn to the cloud Asterisk using an Obi110 to convert the pstn to a trunk over ip (until such a time as the number is ported). This uses the pstn port and SP2, leaving the phone port and SP1 free.

Is it possible therefore to use SP1 & the phone port to connect an analogue phone as an extension to the Asterisk, rather than having an additional Obi100 for this purpose ?

Yes, I know on the face of it it sounds dumb as we can just install an IP phone but where the customer doesn't want to ditch his long range dect phones & base station we need to use an ATA.

Cheers

Gavin

Yes, of course, you can setup (configure) SP1 to register to the asterisk system as an extension.  That would be a common way to use the OBi110.
