Title: Connecting SoftPhone to ObiAPP across WAN.
Post by: z_k_ on June 15, 2013, 04:07:47 PM
I am wondering if anyone has had any luck connecting a softphone at one location to a PC running OBiAPP at another location?  Since the OBI App for android is not all that great I was looking for a way to use androids built in Internet Call feature instead.  If my phone is on the same LAN as the PC running the OBiAPP I am able to make and receive calls without issue.

When my phone is not on the LAN but connecting through the internet, it does register with the OBiAPP.  I can place calls, but once connected there is just dead air on either side of the call.  The Status tab of the OBiAPP shows connected and is aware when I hang up.

I have adjusted some of the ports in the OBiAPP to hopefully avoid any conflicts with the OBi devices.  My current settings in the Advanced tab of the OBiAPP are:
SIP Port: 5080
RTP Ports: 36200 (100 Ports)
Signaling Port: 12000
RTP Ports 36300 (100 Ports)

I have my router forwarding these ports to the LAN IP of the PC running the OBiAPP.

If have the following ports forwarded to the LAN IP of the Obi device.
TCP Ports: 6800, 5222, 5223
UDP Ports: 5060, 5061, 10000 to 11000, 16600 to 16998, 19305

Any advice would be appreciated.   ;D

It's time to think about using the "OBi BIG green button". It will get you there better than the OBiAPP ever did.

And what might the "OBi BIG green button" be?

How could you have missed it! It's smack in the top and middle of the page as you sign into the portal. Read this thread for some background. I'm surprised more people have not commented on this new feature. I admit that button looks a little like an advertizing thingy. It doesn't really stand out as the OBiAPP replacement. The strangest thing of all is that obihai is completely silent on this new "cloud" service.

Thank you for the suggestion, I appreciate you trying to help.  Unfortunately that won't help on an Android phone.  If chrome wasn't a requirement I might try it on a PC.  I think I'll just setup an VPN to get around the wan issue.

Since you are already using a computer with the OBiApp see the following for an alternative:

This looks like the type of solution I was looking for.  Thank you very much!
