Title: How do I make AA pick up a call on sp1?
Post by: N7AS on April 13, 2011, 10:39:44 PM
I would like the AA to pick up the call on sp1 (Google Voice) so that GV will see an answer and never go to voicemail, thus letting my phone's answering machine to take the call if I am not here to answer manually.

If you have the Auto Attendant answer SP1 calls instead of ringing your phone and answering machine, how are you going to know there is an incoming call and how is the answering machine going to take that call?

I have my answering macine on the OBi's PHONE Port along my my telephones.  It's set to pick up on the 4th ring.  That's just less than 25 seconds, the point where Google Voice voicemail picks up.

I hope I'm not missing something obvious.   :)

I tried that a few months ago before I got my OBi110 when I was using GV + Sipgate + Sipsorcery and some of the time GV voicemail picked up the call when I set the phone/answering machine to 4 rings. When set for 2 rings it worked all the time, but that's too short unless I am sitting right at my desk.

Try it with the OBi.  The OBi will be generating the ring cadence this time, not the ATA you were using with Sip Sorcery.  I would think you'll have the same success I do with 4 rings.

It's a shame GV is hard-wired into 25 seconds, but that's the way it is.
