Title: DTMF problems, pin not taken for new GV # or bank pin confirmation
Post by: dircom on October 28, 2013, 08:58:01 AM
If I call another Obi in my dashboard, and can enter 1 or 2, etc, continue call or make a new call

But I call one of my banks, they Rep will transfer you to a robot to enter your pin #
I enter it, and the robot doesn't understand the pin, robot says to enter again... after 3 tries it gives up.

The phone is generating the tones, when the bank rep came back on the phone, she could her a tone when I pressed a digit.

Same thing happens when trying to set up a new GV #, the pin I enter is not accepted.
If I use my landline, which currently is separate from my obi due to wife's relatives, not liking a different caller ID than our "real #)   the pin numbers are received ok.

I have not tried another phone, because if another obi on my network can understand the tones, then I assumed the bank computer or GV should understand them.  but perhaps I should test another phone?

EDIT  using GV for outbound calling

Sending and receiving dtmf tones is a surprisingly big subject! I doubt if there's anything wrong with your phone. Have a read here:

I have found DTMFMethod set to InBand works best for me.

There is a phone number for "DTMF Echo": (804) 222 1111. As soon as you hear the announcement, immediately start pressing digits, and the digits will be announced back to you. If they are all announced back correctly, the OBi is working normally.

You can also change the following configuration on your OBi device:
1. Log in to your OBiTALK account
2. Under OBi Dashboard, click on your OBi device
3. Go to Expert Configuration
4. Under Service Providers -> ITSP Profile A -> General, change DTFMethod to Inband.

Note: You will need to uncheck both "OBiTALK settings" and "DeviceDefault" to make changes to the parameters.

it worked to verify an IPKall # with GV, and was able to verify pin with the bank robot

... thanks ianobi & N7AS
