Title: newbie GV 2-3 second silent gap problem
Post by: csrow on April 19, 2011, 10:53:35 AM
Hi,

I just installed a Obi110 have set up to use Google voice.  The outgoing and incoming calls are all working but during the conversation, sound it cutting out for 2-3 seconds every 10-15 seconds.

I'm in USA and I have a phone connected directly to the Obi box. The Obi box is connected to a Trend router.

Where should I start looking for a solution?

You can eliminate your router as a possible culprit by temporarily connecting your OBi directly to your Cable/DSL modem (power cycle both devices after making the connection).  If the problem goes away, your router may be the cause.  If the router is a suspect, check to make sure it has the latest firmware installed and has ALG disabled (if present).  Forwarding RTP ports (16600 - 16998) to your OBi might also be a solution.

I changed out the router and now it seems to be working ok.  Thanks for the help.
