Title: Request: ping watchdog or something else to correct lockups
Post by: totalimpact on January 24, 2014, 02:05:18 PM
Some of my Obis seem to be going offline and I have to power cycle them, prior to this the devices LAN LED is flashing like crazy, and it does not respond to pings, calls seem to pass through as if it were powered down.

I wish there was some sort of watch dog feature to automatically correct this, ie a ping watch dog-

- specify ping IP
- ping interval
- failure count to reboot - ie 5 failed pings forces a reboot

One could plug their Obi into a WiFi enabled outlet and then run a script on a router that would PING the Obi and if no response, off and on, the outlet.

One of my ATA devices has an option to auto reboot if it loses registration for X amount of time.  That might do what you want.  You listening ObiHai?
