Title: OBi110 and intercom
Post by: vgXhc on February 09, 2014, 05:12:26 PM
We just got an OBi110 to be used with Google Voice and our apartment's intercom. We have a central intercom system in our building and you're supposed to plug in your phone into the phone port for use with the intercom. When someone dials your apartment number at the entrance your phone will ring and by pressing 9 you can buzz them in. We assumed that therefore we could connect the landline port of the OBi with the intercom and receive the intercom calls on the phone plugged into the OBi. Unfortunately, that doesn't work. When someone rings the intercom the phone doesn't ring. Anyone have an idea how to fix this?

vgXhc – welcome to the forum.

Without knowing more about the intercom itself, this will involve some guesswork.

If the intercom gives one burst of ringing then stops, then the OBi110 with default settings will not register the ring due to the four seconds RingDelay that is needed to capture the CallerID. CallerID is not needed in this case so set this:

Physical Interfaces > LINE Port > LINE Port > RingDelay: 0

If that does not cure the problem, then additionally you may need to make changes to various "Ring Detect" settings. You might try lowering Ring Threshold to:

Physical Interfaces > LINE Port > Ring Detect > RingThreshold: 19.35 – 23.65

Make changes via the OBi Expert Configuration pages. From your OBi Dashboard, click on your OBi number and follow the prompts to get there. To change a value uncheck both boxes to the right of the value and leave them unchecked. After changing the values on one page, press submit at the bottom of the page and wait a few minutes for the OBi to reboot.

ianobi, thanks so much! Changing the RingDelay setting did the trick.
