Title: Anveo - Time To Get Dialtone
Post by: MikePA on April 19, 2014, 10:56:39 AM
Getting a dial tone using my 110 and GV combo was almost instanteous.

I switched to Anveo, and getting a dial tone can take up to 10 seconds.

Is this normal?

Thanks

I also get instant perceived dial tone with my GV and 110. That is not normal to have to wait that long for a dial tone. I would maybe expect that with a free service on the other side of the world... maybe. However, I have no experience with any of these voip services other than GV. I would look for tech support from Anveo and hope they help you figure it out. What if you need E911 right NOW and have to wait 10 additional seconds just to dial it? Defeats the purpose of having a short 3-digit number to dial doesn't it?

I have Anveo and get an instant dial tone. I've never had problems with getting a dial tone.

Dialtone is generated locally by Obi.  I get dialtone even if I unplug the Ethernet cable.

I bounced my cable modem then the OBI box. Everything is back to normal.

I fell into the 'trap' of blaming the last thing that was changed, changing GV to Anveo, being the culprit. Odd that it worked fine for a few hours, though.

Thanks for the reminder that the dial tone comes from the OBI box.
